Ninja Trails

Nestled in the lush forests of Nabari, Mie Prefecture, the Akame 48 Waterfalls offer a serene 4-kilometer hiking trail adorned with numerous cascades, including the renowned Five Falls: Fudo, Senju, Nunobiki, Ninai, and Biwa. This area holds historical significance as a former training ground for Iga-ryu ninjas and is home to the endangered Japanese giant salamander, which visitors can learn about at the on-site Salamander Center. Seasonal highlights include cherry blossoms in spring, vibrant foliage in autumn, and illuminated frozen waterfalls in winter. Accessible via a short bus ride from Akameguchi Station on the Kintetsu Line, the trail is suitable for casual hikers seeking a blend of nature and history.
