Iimori Shrine, nestled at the base of Mt. Iimori in Fukuoka's Nishi Ward, is a historic Shinto shrine established in 859. Once encompassing the entire mountain, it featured three sub-shrines at different elevations. The main hall, rebuilt in 1786, showcases intricate wood carvings and houses cultural artifacts. The shrine is renowned for preserving ancient rituals, including the kayu-uranai (rice porridge divination) in February and the yabusame (horseback archery) festival in October. Visitors can also explore the sacred Meoto-sugi (twin cedar trees) and the Monju-dō hall, dedicated to the Bodhisattva of wisdom.
